Mixa Studio: Peebles, Scotland

Michael Jessing has recently completed a series of paintings which are a fusion of Babylonian myths and contemporary reflections on the social fabric or systems.   These paintings and drawings are meant to explore new paradigms within a  figurative format.   This is seen by the artist as a way of combining the prophetic  ( imagining new possibilities) with the symbolic.   The artist’s recent projects include illustrations   to these myths,  known as "cozmix".   They include  “Inanna’a Descent,”  and  "Huluppu Tree."

In a recent mural project, he  has painted three large gilded panels of “A Procession of Angels” for St. Peter’s Church,  Peebles, Scotland.   His mural based on the poem "Black Gold," won the Three Harbour Mural Competition 2009 - Prestonpans, Scotland.

His  illustrations to the complete  Book of  Psalms  were exhibited at York Minster Library and Chichester Cathedral in 2008.  Exhibitions of selections to the book will take place in Wells Cathedral in 2009 and Carlisle Cathedral in 2010.
